Dr. Katelyn Kirk-Provencher, Ph.D.

Dr. Kirk-Provencher received her PhD in Clinical Psychology from the University of Rhode Island in 2021. She completed a pre-doctoral internship in Inpatient Clinical Psychology (Forensic Evaluation Track) at Fulton State Hospital in Missouri, where she received extensive training in competency to stand trial evaluations, psychological assessment, and individual and group therapy in a maximum-security forensic hospital. Dr. Kirk-Provencher received a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Maine in 2013, and a master’s degree in Forensic Psychology from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in 2015. She completed a two-year research postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus in 2023 and is currently completing a postdoctoral fellowship in Police and Public Safety Psychology with Psychological Dimensions. She is a member of several professional societies including the American Psychological Association (APA), American Psychology-Law Society (APA Division 41), Psychologists in Public Service: Police & Public Safety Section (APA Division 18), and the Colorado Psychological Association. Dr. Kirk-Provencher has received extensive training in forensic and psychological evaluation and treatment in state hospitals, correctional settings, private practices, a university counseling center, and community-based settings. Her research has focused on substance use, sexual violence, and health disparities, and has been published in peer-reviewed journals including Trauma, Violence, & Abuse; Psychiatry, Psychology and Law; and Addictive Behaviors. She has also been a guest on the Violence and Gender Podcast. She currently holds a Psychologist Candidate Permit in Colorado to practice under the supervision of a licensed psychologist. She looks forward to training with Psychological Dimensions and working towards licensure in Colorado and PSYPACT participating states.
