How Do Virtual Evaluations Work?

Using our proprietary virtual testing method, ProctorPRO®, Psychological Dimensions offers fully remote psychological evaluations for public safety candidates. This secure, video-proctored process allows applicants to complete testing from any location while maintaining the rigor and integrity of traditional in-person assessments.

Flexible Scheduling: Candidates access our online Testing Session Scheduling Calendar to reserve a spot in one of several weekly testing sessions, including options outside normal business hours and on weekends.
Live Video Proctoring: Each session is led by a trained PD staff member who guides candidates through the process in real-time, provides credentials for secure test access, and monitors each participant throughout.
Controlled Environment: Proctors can view candidates’ screens, adjust audio/video settings, and ensure a distraction-free, secure testing environment.
Immediate Processing: Once testing is complete, the proctor scores and uploads results directly to the candidate’s secure profile for further review.
Confidential Interview: Candidates are then scheduled for a one-on-one, semi-structured forensic interview with a licensed police and public safety psychologist, which takes place via HIPAA-compliant video conferencing.

Are Virtual Evaluations Approved by the IACP?

Yes. Following rigorous research and peer-reviewed analysis, virtual psychological evaluations are now recognized as equivalent to in-person assessments.

Early Skepticism, Proven Results: Prior to 2020, concerns existed within the public safety community about the validity of remote assessments. However, the COVID-19 pandemic necessitated a shift, and prompted in-depth research into the comparability of remote vs. traditional methods.
Data-Driven Findings: Results showed no statistically significant differences in outcomes between remote and in-person evaluations for police and public safety applicants.
IACP Endorsement: The IACP Police Psychological Services Section (PPSS) reviewed the data and formally revised its Pre-Employment Psychological Evaluation Guidelines in 2021 to include virtual methods as equivalent. The revisions were ratified by IACP leadership at the Annual Conference.
